The annual aesthetic budget is real, line-itemed, and approved by the operator who owns brand. It covers font licenses, fresh flowers for the studio, paper stock for the things that should be printed, original photography for the things that should not be stock, and the occasional commissioned object that ends up in a client's office and quietly out-performs every cold email we will ever send.
Beauty is a moat. The clients who care about how things look are also the clients who pay invoices on time, refer their friends, and do not haggle over scope. The clients who do not care about how things look are clients we are quietly not optimizing for. This is the cheapest segmentation strategy we have ever found.
How operators request and approve: in a Notion doc, with a photo, a price, and a one-sentence rationale. If the rationale is good, the answer is yes. If the rationale is bad, the answer is yes anyway, because we'd rather be wrong toward beauty than right toward austerity. Calibration is its own line item.
