We have read the literature. Then we read it again, drinking matcha, in a hammock, on company time, which is the most on-brand sentence we could possibly write.
Here is the policy: take what you need, with a floor of six weeks a year that we will gently insist on. Sabbatical at year five — eight weeks, fully paid, no laptop, no Slack, no "just a quick check-in." We will literally lock you out. It's romantic in its way.
The principle behind the policy is unsexy and load-bearing: rested operators outperform unrested operators by a margin that embarrasses the entire productivity-industrial complex. You do not get a discount on your humanity for working here. You get an upgrade.
What sabbatical looks like in practice: a former operator hiked a chunk of the Camino, came back, and shipped the best work of her tenure inside six weeks. We are not promising you a religious experience. We are promising you a calendar that respects the existence of one.
